Don't worry, everything is fine! The books are currently sailing towards their fulfillment destinations. It's during this phase that no news is good news! But that doesn't mean we have to sit here twiddling our thumbs. We've got a new preview from the upcoming Nightmare Empire expansion, as well as the first of our regular digital-only content featuring a new Barbarian Path that introduces Doom Reavers to your game!

SHIPPING NEWS

Greetings Adventurers,
We have received shipping confirmation documents for three out of our four shipping destinations for the Borderlands books. We're just waiting on confirmation for the shipment going to Australia but expect to have that soon. All the book shipments are currently expected to arrive at Privateer and with our international fulfillment services between April 25th and May 13th.
The Shadow of the Seeker miniatures are in production and as soon as they have been packed, we'll have them shipped out to meet up with the books.
The last piece of the puzzle to come together is the fabric maps, which print next week and then will also be shipped to meet up with the books.
With a little bit of luck, everything will be in place in each location in May and then should be quickly packed and shipped with only a short regional courier trip to all backers.
There won't be much to report on while the books are on the water (at least we hope not!) but we've been hard at work on the next Iron Kingdoms RPG expansion — Nightmare Empire — and we'll have some things to show off soon. Like, this little reason to cancel your summer vacation to the beach...

VAT UPDATES FOR UK & EU and MORE

For our UK and EU backers, the undauntable Mr. Charles Foster III has completed the VAT calculations and updates to your Backerkit accounts. As noted before, the complication in this process was in the inability of the Backerkit software to calculate multiple VAT rates for a single territory. In order to ensure backers were not overtaxed for items eligible for reduced VAT (eg. books), each order had to be individually calculated and updated, which has been a very lengthy process. If you are concerned or interested in your VAT calculation, you can now log in to your Backerkit account and view the updated tax before we charge credit cards at the end of this week. If you feel the calculation is not accurate, please contact us directly through Kickstarter so that we can make any necessary corrections. And don't worry, if you're unable to check your VAT calculation before we process credit cards and you find something in error afterward, we can always correct any mis-charge later.
Note that when checking your VAT calculation, books have been charged reduced VAT if your country's tax code allows for reduced VAT on books. Non-book items are assessed full VAT, and VAT charged on shipping has been calculated in proportion to the total cost of the reduced VAT and standard VAT items. (You don't have to have a degree in accounting or calculus to work this out, but it certainly helps!)
In other news, we've been receiving updates from our vendor supplying the Shadow of the Seeker miniatures. Below is a picture of the test shot miniatures in the vacu-form tray next to a box mockup and a printed proof of the packaging.
Our next big milestones will be the the shipping of the books and GM screens followed by the shipping of the miniatures, which come from a separate manufacturer. We'll update you when we have confirmation that everything has sailed. Until then, be safe and well!
PROGRESS REPORT

Greetings Adventurers,
Production progress continues on the Borderlands books and miniatures. We've received sample shots of the miniatures, which look fantastic! And we we have received production samples of all three books and the GM screen, which also look excellent. We put the books through several rounds of rigorous abuse that would make the Samsonite luggage test look tame by comparison, and they held up great.
Over the past week, we have coordinated our shipping schedule with the book printer. We will be split-shipping the run, this time, sending the required quantities for rewards fulfillment directly to the services we are working with in Australia, Canada, and the UK (which also fulfills the EU). This is going to cut down at least 4-6 weeks of delivery time for our international backers, which we're thrilled about.
Our current shipping schedule has the books departing the printer in early April and arriving to the fulfillment services in all locations by the end of May.
On the home front, Kickstarter Production Manager Charles Foster III has been working hard on the UK/EU VAT calculations in Backerkit. Unfortunately, we were not able to get a solution from Backerkit that could manage multiple VAT rates for books vs standard goods, so Mr. Foster has been doing everything by hand, and it has been a significant undertaking. He'll be uploading info through next week and all customers in the UK and EU that are subject to VAT will be able to double check the calculations before we charge cards the following week. So watch for our update next week when we'll let you know the work has been completed.

Greetings Adventurers,
We are about mid-way through the long, slow waiting period where there there isn't much to report on other than to say that everything is on track. Production facilities in China shut down for several weeks every year during the Chinese New Year holiday and it will be close to the end of the month before staff have all returned and operations are back up to speed.
In the meantime, we have approved proofs of the book pages and we recently received a photo of pre-production shots of the Shadow of the Seeker miniatures.
The next step for the books is to go on press. And we are expecting sample shots of the miniatures within the next few weeks for a final inspection before they go into production. So, expect the next update in about a month once we've hit the next production milestones and we have some visibility on when things might ship.
At Privateer, though, everything is full speed ahead as we make progress on the next IKRPG expansion: Nightmare Empire. We're deep into the writing and have commissioned loads of new artwork for the new monsters and locations we'll be exploring throughout the Scharde isles. We're also creating a new group of Cryxian pirate miniatures that will make great NPCs or PCs, depending on the cut of yer jib. So, we should have some fun things to preview around the end of April.
